چکیده

The acoustical impedance of a component is one of its most important characteristics. It is needed when acoustical simulations using lumped elements or electrical analog circuits are carried out. The calibration procedure for the two microphone transfer function method described in ISO 10534-2 is not sufficiently accurate in most cases. In this paper, a new calibration method for the two microphone transfer function method has been proposed such that acoustical impedances can be measured with high accuracy over a wide frequency range. In this method, the estimation of the speed of sound has been eliminated. Next, in the calibration of the sensor mismatch, the deviation in sensor position after interchanging the pressure sensors has been taken into account. Finally, a recursive procedure has been proposed to refine the microphone position calibration. This refinement can be continued until the required calibration accuracy has been obtained.

Calibration of the two microphone transfer function method to measure acoustic impedance in a wide frequency range

In many acoustic simulations, particularly when using lumped parameter models or electrical analog circuits, the acoustic impedance of a component needs to be determined accurately. A widely used acoustic impedance measurement method is the ”two microphone transfer function method”, which is standardized in ISO-10534-2. When the acoustic impedance is needed over a wide frequency band, for examp...

Determination of the acoustical impedance of an internal combustion engine exhaust

In this investigation, the acoustical impedance of an internal combustion engine is measured and simulated. The measurements are based on the two microphone transfer function method, which is described in the standard ISO/FDIS 10543-2. The method uses the transfer function between two microphones positioned on a waveguide connected to the impedance to be measured. Some improvements are proposed...

Finite element computation of elliptical vocal tract impedances using the two-microphone transfer function method

A two-microphone transfer function (TMTF) method is adapted to a numerical framework to compute the radiation and input impedances of three-dimensional vocal tracts of elliptical cross-section. In its simplest version, the TMTF method only requires measuring the acoustic pressure at two points in an impedance duct and the postprocessing of the corresponding transfer function. However, some cons...

Time domain wave separation using multiple microphones.

Methods of measuring the acoustic behavior of tubular systems can be broadly characterized as steady state measurements, where the measured signals are analyzed in terms of infinite duration sinusoids, and reflectometry measurements which exploit causality to separate the forward and backward going waves in a duct. This paper sets out a multiple microphone reflectometry technique which performs...
